Craft Prospect is heading to SmallSat 2026 in Salt Lake City, Utah, from 23–26 August, with our Head of Commerical Hina Khan, Head of Engineering Kevin Quillien, and AI Lead Lucy Donnell attending.

Across the conference, we’ll be exhibiting at Booth 1036 as well as sharing posters and oral presentations, and taking part in Scottish Development International’s Scotland Day activities.

If you’re attending SmallSat, we'd love to see you there! Here are all the ways you can interact with us:

Visit us at Booth 1036

Throughout the conference, you’ll be able to find the Craft Prospect team at Booth 1036.

Come and meet Hina, Lucy, and Kevin to hear more about our latest work across secure space systems, onboard autonomy, quantum and optical communications, mission capability, and the technologies supporting Smart Secure Space.

OPS-SAT VOLT showcase with Bright Ascension

On Monday, 24 August at 3:30pm, Craft Prospect and Bright Ascension will host a joint showcase at Booth 1036.

The session will explore OPS-SAT VOLT use cases from Craft Prospect and show how Bright Ascension’s HELIX platform can be adapted to help solve real-world industry challenges.

When: Monday, 24 August, 3:30pm

Where: Booth 1036

With: Craft Prospect and Bright Ascension

Enterprise Session: AI for autonomous small satellite missions

On Tuesday, 25 August, Craft Prospect AI Lead Lucy Donnell will present ‘AI for Autonomous Operation of Small Satellite Missions’ as part of the Enterprise Sessions.

The talk will explore work being delivered by Craft Prospect and GMV through an ESA-funded advanced avionics demonstrator focused on using machine learning to enhance onboard autonomy for small satellite missions.

Lucy will discuss two key autonomy applications: responsive mission planning and scheduling, and Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR). These capabilities are being developed against a real mission scenario, OPS-SAT VOLT, which brings together optical communications, quantum key distribution, and hyperspectral imaging.

For anyone interested in onboard AI, autonomous operations, mission resilience, or reducing reaction times to events in orbit, this will be a great session to attend!

Presenter: Lucy Donnell

When: Tuesday, 25 August, 8:15am

Where: Grand Ballroom

Poster sessions

Kevin Quillien will present Craft Prospect’s poster, ‘The Quantum CubeSat: A Perspective for Quantum Technology in Orbit’, during the Tuesday poster session.

The poster explores near-term quantum technologies for small satellites, including quantum key distribution, entanglement-based systems, quantum sensing, and the design trade-offs involved in deploying these capabilities on CubeSat platforms through missions including OPS-SAT VOLT.

Poster: ‘The Quantum CubeSat: A Perspective for Quantum Technology in Orbit’

Presenter: Kevin Quillien

When: Tuesday, 25 August, 09:45–10:45 and 15:15–16:15

On Wednesday, Lucy Donnell will present Craft Prospect’s second poster, ‘Robust Learning-Based Guidance for Close Proximity Operation Scenarios’.

The poster shares work with the University of Glasgow on machine learning for robust trajectory planning, tested in representative hardware-in-the-loop simulations for rendezvous and proximity operations.

Presenter: Lucy Donnell

When: Wednesday, 26 August, 09:45–10:45 and 15:15–16:15

Scotland Day with Scottish Development International

Craft Prospect is also pleased to be taking part in Scottish Development International’s Scotland Day activities on Wednesday, 26 August.

The event will spotlight the strength, ambition, and innovation of Scotland’s space sector, bringing together companies from across the Scottish space ecosystem to share their technologies, products, services, and future opportunities.

Kevin Quillien will deliver both a Rapid Orbital Talk and take part in the Scottish Company Pitching Session. He’ll be sharing more about Craft Prospect’s capabilities across secure space systems, onboard autonomy, quantum and optical communications, and mission delivery.

When: Wednesday, 26 August

Where: Room 259

Rapid Orbital Talk: 9:40am

Pitching Session: 11:30am–12:30pm

We hope to see you there!

We’re looking forward to a busy few days in Salt Lake City, sharing our latest work, connecting with the global small satellite community, and joining conversations around autonomy, quantum technologies, mission operations, and the future of Smart Secure Space!
