Lab update: End-to-end optical communications testing for OPS-SAT VOLT

A behind-the-scenes look from the Craft Prospect lab this week, where Optical Systems Engineer Isabel Scott has been working on alignment for OPS-SAT VOLT’s space-to-ground optical communications chain.

Isabel has been aligning our downlink free-space optical communications (FSOC) transmitter with our new Ground Optical Receiver, enabling end-to-end testing across the full space-to-ground link.

This work forms part of OPS-SAT VOLT’s wider system validation, helping ensure the technologies, subsystems, and interfaces involved in the mission can be tested together ahead of operations.

It is a great example of the hands-on engineering taking place across Craft Prospect as the team continues to build, integrate, test, and validate the technologies behind Smart Secure Space.
